Four persons are still missing after coaster accident in Kohistan

Gahkooch: Four persons including a woman are still missing and feared dead after tragic road accident in Kohistan on Sunday. Confusion persists about the death toll.



Among the missing persons were two soldiers, sepoy Ali Muhammad from Qorqolti, sepoy Mairaj from Ghojalti and Farida from Sandi village of Yasin, as well as Moiz, from Khalti village of Gupis, who was serving as nurse in Aga Khan Hospital, Karachi.

"Seventeen dead bodies have been recovered in joint rescue operation and shifted to DHQ Chilas. 25 passengers were present in the van" Commissioner Diamer Division Syed Abdul Latif had earlier told to the media.

Later, DPO Kohistan had announced ending rescue and search operation, claiming that all dead bodies recovered. “The only woman who remained safe but seriously injured in the incident has told that there were 18 passengers in the van at the time of accident”, he told the media.

Though, the contradictory statements about the death toll have created confusion, it is confirmed that 18 passengers belonged to Ghizar, among them 13 dead bodies had been brought and buried in respective villages of Yasin and Gupis, four missing and a woman remained safe.

It is not clear whether rescue and search operation has been resumed to find the missing persons.

17 Dead bodies and a women injured were recovered, after passenger van fell into 600 feet deep ravin in Kohistan on Sunday. Four persons including 2 soldiers and a women from Yasin,and a nurse from Gupis are still missing. How many passengers were in the van, is still not clear.
