Representation of GB in CPEC stressed in a seminar

 Karachi: The opportunities and threats of China Pakistan Economic Corridor have been highlighted in a seminar at Aga Khan Univesity Hospital auditorium on Friday.

With the title “The Impact of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Gilgit-Baltistan” , the seminar was organized by Shishkat Youth Society (SYS) in which prominent journalists and experts, including Wustullah Khan and Col. Zahid shared their opinion about the opportunities of CPEC for Pakistan and specially Gilgit Baltistan.

According to the statement, the guests were presented with cultural caps of Hunza and then a  brief Presentation  about the work done by organization and its pivotal role in educating the youth along with a short documentary was shown on CPEC detailing the mega projects and infrastructures that will be built in Pakistan.

 Wusat Ullah Khan, a prominent journalist and columnist working for BBC Urdu and Dawn news said that there is a chance for the people of GB to have their say in CPEC and ask for their rights. CPEC is totally dependent on GB, without representation in mainstream politics and the CPEC committee there will be no voice to speak for the people of GB.

Col. Zahid highlighted the manifold impacts of CPEC on GB saying that the environment and wildlife will be severely damaged due to rise in air and noise pollution. Similarly, more movement of people will cause more concerns of securities. Previously most of the villages falling on the KKH have been peaceful but after CPEC security threat will increase.

Mr.Tasawoor Karim Baig and Mr. Sajad Ahmed emphasized on the youth to prepare themselves for the opportunities. As mega infrastructures like dams, hydro power houses, road and rail will be built, the youth should be optimistic about the future.

Waqar Ahmed an Anchor person (famous for his “Safer Hay Shart” program on Express TV) and journalist shared his views through a video regarding CPEC.

The event was attended by large number of students, professional and people from every walk of life .Live Sufi music was performed by Rustam Khan and Irfan Karim Bahadur.
