Passenger van fell into raven, 17 bodies recovered

Kohistan: A passenger van travelling from Yasin valley to Rawalpindi, fell into raven at Lotar area in Upper Kohista district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.


According to Commissioner Diamer Division Syed  Abdul Latif, a7 dead bodies have been recovered, including a child and 2 women and shifted to DHQ hospital Chilas.

He said “ the passenger van was on way from Ghizar to Rawalpindi, carrying 25 passenger on board." But according to DPO Kohistan Raja Saboor, wounded woman has claimed that there were 18 passengers in the van.

The van met the unfortunate fate and fell into some 600 meter deep raven near Police Station Lotar in upper Kohistan district last evening.

According to local sources, 4 passengers belonged to Yasin and among them a women from Sandi village is injured. She is only passenger who remained safe but seriously injured in the incident. 2 passengers from Taus and one from Qorqolti village lost their lives.

Among other passengers, at least 10 belonged to Gupis and remaining were from other villages along the way.

The passenger van was part of daily service operated by a Kohistani party from Yasin to Rawalpindi. It left Yasin in early morning on Sunday and expected to reach Rawalpindi before dawn on Monday.
