Football match turned battlefield in Skardu

Skardu: At least thirteen people, including three police personnel, were injured when a clash erupted between two football teams and their supporter in Skardu on Satureday.
The injured people were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Skardu, where their condition was said to be stable.
Late, elders of the area got the dispute settled through a jirga.
A Police official said the clash occurred during the semi-final of inter-district spring football tournament played between rival teams of Olding Youngs and Shaheen Club at municipal stadium Skardu.
He said the clash erupted when two players from both teams quarreled at end of the match.
Later, supporters and players started attacking one another with stones and sticks, turning the stadium into battlefield. Supporter also started chanting slogans against opponent teams.
Police personnel deployed in the stadium tried to clam down the situation, but failed, after which they fired tear gas shells and fired in the air to disperse the people. Pak Army personnel were called to defuse the situation.
During the clash, 10 spectators and three police personnel were injured when the were hit by flying stones.
Police said o FIR had been registered against any one in the case so far.
Later, local elders settled the dispute peacefully through a jirga.
