Victim of gang rape recorded statement, 2 accused jailed

Gilgit: The victim of sexual harassment and black mailing has recorded her statement in the apex court on Tuesday.

The girl was sexually harassed and eventually black mailed by three assailants in Gilgit for more than an year. All three accused belonged to Nomal valley, some 20 km away from Gilgit city. After surfacing the news in local media, the two accused have been arrested from Gilgit and sent to central prison; while the third was arrested in Rawalpindi yesterday.

Meanwhile, local media reported that the assailants, backed by a local sectarian group, continue posing threats to family of victim, putting pressure to withdraw the allegations. Last night, unknown assailants opened indiscriminate fire outside the victim’s house in Gilgit. 

Those trying to protect the accused include a person who claims to be the representative of International Human Rights. Monitoring desk.
