Gilgit man among two others shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: Three persons including a Gilgiti man were shot dead on Wednesday near Matric board office in Nazimabad, police and witnesses said.


Sultan and his two companions were shot dead in their car at around 1:20 pm by a lone attacker riding a motorcycle, a witnesses said.

Another witness said that thier car was followed by another car. Soon after the car stopped near Matric board office, a man got down and then the assailant sitting in another car spayed them with bullets from a close range leaving all of them dead on the spot. 

Other persons killed were identified as Mairaj Khattak, 48, the district information secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party and Wasim Khattak, 40, resident of Sultanabad.

Medio-legal sources said the two Khattaks received two bullets each to their heads and in the upper torsos and Mr Gilgiti was shot once. They said the victims were shot at a very close range as all the bullets had pierced their bodies.

SSP (Central) Captain Asim Qaimkhani said the body language of Mairaj Khattak’s relatives showed that the incident was an outcome of personal feud. “Investigations are under way and I can’t say anything more at this moment,” he told Dawn late in the night.

Sultan, 35, an employee of Aga Khan University Hospital, had been working for several years at a community center in Sultanabad, run by CHS. He had many friends in the area due to being closely associated withe the local community. On the unfortunate day, he reportedly attended a funeral at Sultanabad after reaching office. After the funeral he neither returned office nor his home. Many attempts were made to trace him after he left office, nothing could be establisheed by evening. An finaly the news of his death was found from police.
