Road accident in Gojal, 5 dead, several injured

HUNZA: Five people dead and several injured when a van plunged off a road in Hussaini village of Gojal this aftrenoon, sources said.

The van was carrying more than 20 people who were returning Gulmit from a wedding party in Moorkoon, upper Gojal. The groom and bride were also among those injured.

The incident occured when the driver lost control of the vehicle while crossing a short bend. Subsequently the bus fell into the several hundred feet deep ravine, leaving 5 people died and more than 10 wounded. The dead bodies and those injured have been  shifted to near by hospital.

According to local media, the deceased have been identified as Numberdar Nasiruddin, Civil Supplies Deputy Director Aqil Shah, AKPBS employee Bakhtullah, teacher Irfan Karim and Shahuddin. All except Irfan Karimm belonged to Kamaris Muhallah of Gulmit, the tehsil headquarters of Gojal Valley. Irfan, who had recently got married, belonged to Ghulkin Village.
