Gilgit: Police rounded up more than 50 political leader and workers in a bit to thwart fuctions on the occassion of Independence day of Gilgit Baltistan, which were scheduled tomarrow in Ghari Bagh, Gilgit.
According to the sources, police has detained main nationalist leaders including Col.(r) Wajahat Hassan Khan, Col.(r) Nadir Hassan Khan, Ammanullah of BLP, Farooq Advocate, Akber and other 20 members of KNM, Javed, member District Council Gilgit, Burhanuulah and M Wazir Shafi of BNF and dozens of other workers of different nationalist parties who were preparing a stage for a fuctions at Ghari Bagh, Gilgit, following the celebrations of "Independence Day of Gilgit Baltistan".
All banners and posters of Gilgit Baltistan Democratic Alliance (GBDA) displayed around the city were removed by the police.
Sources said that police continued crack down in Gilgit and adjacent areas.
