GB Finance minister's staff netted for artefacts theft

GILGIT: The driver and a gunman of the Gilgit-Baltistan finance minister, Akhtar Hussain were arrested Monday for an alleged theft of precious artefacts, reported a private TV channel.

The precious statues and stones, gifted by the Chinese government, were installed at Ganesh Bridge at River Hunza near Karakurram Highway. The accused had plucked out the monuments and were carrying them away in the minister’s official vehicle. But, police recovered the items during a routine search. A case has been registered against the two and further proceedings are underway, says police.
